Health Info Comments Off

Anticipating the increasing demand for transporting patients weighing over to the hospital, the ambulance service agency South Central Ambulance Service in London, England, launched the first specialized medical car for obese patients. “This particular ambulance has a design like a big interior and equipped hospital ward patient bed-sized four people and sophisticated medical equipment and new,” said spokesman James Keating Wilkes institution.

Wilkes said the ambulance was able to transport a patient, two medical staff and equipment to weigh around 444 kilograms. “So far, medical teams have difficulty when hauling obese patients into the ambulance, causing some minor accidents. Now, the medical support staff simply presses a button and the patient can be put into an ambulance in peace. And rescue efforts could get more leverage,” he said.

Initially, the ambulance service is only reserved for obese patients with heart disease at a cost of 5000 pounds or about USD 68 million more. South Central also serves the general obese patients because it is still rare patients who utilize these services.
