A Medical Coder is the one who is responsible for translating the health services given by the doctors to the patients into a set of alpha numeric codes. The codes are then used to determine the amount of money that will be charged to the insurance company. A Medical Coder makes sure that every service and doctor visit is coded properly and included in the list of health insurance compensation. To become Medical Coder, you have first take the medical coding course. It can be either a four years college, community college or online. After that, you must pass the certification for Medical Coder. A career as a Medical Coder is wide open as there is an increasing demand on the job. Medical Coders have a standard job routine, a 40-hour week from Monday to Friday. Medical coders do not take calls and work night time or on the weekends.
